Since 2000, more and more Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies have been participating in the World First Aid Day each second Saturday of September.
This year, the event will take place on 10 September. The main objective is to increase communities’ understanding of the crucial role of First Aid in daily life as well as in emergency situations and also in accidents and diseases prevention.
This time, activities will focus on the aid of vulnerable people such as disabled, minorities, destitute people, children as well as elderly. In this perspective, the training in first aid is a good way to reinforce solidarity between communities and to encourage dialogue with vulnerable people, to provide the knowledge to act in case of accident and to contribute to prevention.
Training sessions, exhibitions, games, street theatre, conferences are planned for this Day to teach people simple techniques which can save lives.
